Fees for Counselling Services at Positive Changes Counselling

Hours: Days, evenings, and weekend appointments.

Fees:   Clients may choose from the following two choices.

  1. $120.00 per session (plus GST)

  2. For clients who wish to take advantage of the "sliding fee scale", fees range from $80-120.00 per session. Fees are determined by the gross family income (total of all incomes before deductions) and the number of family members dependent on that income. Gross income is usually documented by current pay statements and Revenue Canada’s tax assessment for all adult family members.

Duration:

Each session is 50 minutes in length. Longer meetings may be requested. Fees are calculated based on this 50-minute unit. (E.g. 90 minutes/50 = 1.8 sessions x fee rate.)

 Reducing Counselling Time And Costs

A number of approaches enhance the counselling experience, ensure that goals are achieved in the shortest possible time and reduce costs. Among the free extras used are:

a) Numerous short handouts that summarize the skills and insights discussed during the session.  These can be reviewed between sessions. For clients who are open to homework between sessions,   this will be provided. Research shows that practicing new skills results in progress that is 3 times faster than not practicing between sessions.
b) Free loans of CD's, tapes, books, videos, DVDs  (see below.)

When you call, ask about additional approaches that will assist progress with your unique needs. These approaches significantly reduce the time and cost of counselling.

One resource involves the free loan of over 20 high quality videos and DVDs to support individual, couple, family and business counselling. Here are some of the videos made available to our clients.

Telephone & Webcam Internet Counselling:

Traditionally professional counselling has been provided in the therapist's office.

In addition to in-office counselling at my professional office, I offer the following further options:

  • telephone counselling,
  • internet webcam counselling,
  • counselling at the business site or other venues
  • in-home counselling (in special circumstances).

Telephone and webcam counselling offers a powerful resource to everyone:

It is always available to people travelling on business or for pleasure. It can be delivered to the home or office of people living anywhere in the world. For those living in remote rural areas it provides professional counselling without the travel. People in Edmonton and surrounding areas can also access this support in the privacy of their homes.Professional counselling is normally provided in the therapist's office.

Payment Options:

If I don't know people, counselling starts on a cash basis, paid at the start of the session. For people I know, cheques are acceptable. At present, I am not set up for credit, debit cards.

Corporate clients will be invoiced monthly.

What are the advantages of phoning?

Selecting a counselor is a very personal thing. Often a short phone call will give you a sense of whether you would feel comfortable with a counselor. Does the counselor listen well and take time to answer questions? Is there a sense of empathy and sensitivity? Does the counselor have special expertise in the area of your needs? A phone call often gives you this information in a way that an email may not.

To  Further Help You

To assist clients who are hesitant about counselling, a free ½ hour consultation may be requested. This brief opportunity is not long enough to do counselling. However, it gives you a sense of whether you would feel comfortable with me as your counselor, lets you know how counselling works and allows me to begin to hear the background to your problem. This option must be specified when making your appointment.
